Anybody Else Getting Codes All The Time?

Post: # 53Post L2 »

Anybody else getting codes all the time?

I'm getting an ECM "communications" code over 50% of my startups now. Used to be just once in a while.

To get around it I pretty much clear the code then hit the starter button (momentarily) and start the bike and the engine light stays off. If I clear the code then shut off the ignition and turn it back on and start the bike, the warning/check engine light comes back on around half of the time.

It's getting to be a battle with the warning/check engine light.

Anybody else seeing this?

On occasion I'll get a code for "Lost communication with [some_random_module]." It happens on those rare occasions when the bike shuts itself down after attempting to crank, first start of the day. I figure it's because the power loss interrupted the boot sequence and threw a code. If it doesn't clear after 3 more starts I just clear it manually and go on my way. Bike always seems to run perfectly regardless.

I posted on the other forum regarding the check engine light that popped on when it ran on one cylinder for about 10 seconds on a ride I was on while it was raining. CEL was on but there were no codes present. I tried several times to clear the light but it would clear until I removed the main fuse and left it out overnight. Hasn't come back on since

Did you undo the tie wrap binding the wires behind your coil?

I did. Makes no sense why they put the zip tie there
