Messy Harley-Davidson Oil Filter Change NO MORE!
I've been using this same gear oil quart canister for years.
Simple and cheap too! Cut the bottom of the jug even with a good razor blade, pull the front shift linkage (on the new Center Cooled bikes it's a little easier if you take a few seconds and unscrew the nut on the back of the horn too), keep it on the kickstand so the oil drains into the cannister. Don't use a wobble extension either, just a straight 3/8" extension.
The cannister with the 3/8" extension through the center connected to the oil filter tool allows the oil to gravity flow into the cannister when you loosen the oil filter (hold the entire contraption up against the engine while loosening). Let it sit for a few moments when you feel the O-ring pull away from the engine (gets super easy to turn). That lets the oil pool in the cannister and NOT all over your bike frame and floor. Easy to put in the drain pan now with no oil on the floor!
